My, how the county council can take over your life. Like most things in life, the more you put in the more you get out it seems.

I sit on a number of formal committees and groups that look into the business of the council. However, its the informal ones that are the most exciting. I have been chairing a member led review on how the council spends its money which is most interesting. We expect to have lots of sensible things to say to help make improvements to the procurement process.  I have also recently been appointed to the highways supervisory board which should give me some influence over how our roads are looked after. Please don’t all shout “potholes” at once - i’ve got that message !!!

I am also please to have been asked to chair a new scrutiny committee for Safer and Stronger Communities. This committee has powers to scrutinise not only the activities of the  County Council but also a number of other organisations including the Police, Fire Service and NHS.

Have a look at my Blog.  I will be writing all about my activities on the county council over the next four years. This will be informal and I hope interesting. Whilst there will be some facts I also hope to include my thoughts and comments on what has happened. If I say the wrong thing or get myself into trouble this will be the place to read all about it. I also hope to share with you the success stories however small.
